    Ye Sheng was sent back to his courtyard, and a doctor came to see him. After checking and making sure Ye Sheng was fine, he left.


    Toward the end of the night, Ye Sheng opened his eyes. His gaze was ice-cold as he looked in the direction of First Madam’s living quarters.


    “Mother didn’t die from depression, but was secretly murdered?” Ye Sheng gritted his teeth, and there was fire burning in his eyes.


    ording to his memories, his mother had be depressed because she had lost the ability to cultivate and had eventually passed away when he was five.


    But when he thought about it now, there had been something fishy about it after all. His mother had been the Sacred Lady of the Reincarnation Sect, so even if her ability to cultivate was gone, she shouldn’t have died from depression.     “I got someone to find one of the hooligans from the lowest rungs of society to attack Ye Sheng, so that our identities would be hidden and nobody would know that we were the ones behind the attack. Regardless of the reason why this assassination failed, you must not ever mention this matter again.” Hu Mei’s pretty face looked serious as she instructed Ye Qing sternly.


    “Why? If we didn’t seed the first time, we can always try again. I don’t care how we do it. We can poison him, possess him with another spirit, cast a curse on him, use some hypnotic spell! Ye Sheng is the cause of all this terrible humiliation that I’m suffering now, so if I don’t kill him, then I’ll always feel as if I have a bone to pick with him,” said Ye Qing angrily.


    “Then wait a while longer. Wait for another month,” said Hu Mei sternly. This was amand, not just a request.


    “Why?” Ye Qing asked, confused.


    “Why? Because your Eldest Sister ising to pay the manor a visit. If you kill Ye Sheng at this time, do you want to be targeted by her?” snapped Hu Mei in annoyance.


    Ye Qing was surprised for a moment. He frowned and looked at Hu Mei as he said, “Eldest Sister ising back to visit? Isn’t she happy living in the pce?”

    “You’re right. If Eldest Sister ising, then we really can’t do anything. She loves that stupid piece of trash, Ye Sheng, the most, so I can’t do anything that might anger her,” said Ye Qing indignantly. No matter how awful he was, he wouldn’t dare to do anything stupid in front of Eldest Sister. Everyone in the manor knew that Eldest Sister doted on Ye Sheng the most out of all her siblings, and she’d even pped several servants to death for his sake. Those servants had belonged to First Madam and the Old Lady, and, while the two of them were angry about it, neither dared to me or get angry with Eldest Sister.


    Eldest Sister already behaved like that back then. Now she had be a consort to the emperor and given birth to a little princess who was the apple of His Majesty’s eye. This made her even more powerful than she had been within the manor previously, and nobody would dare offend her.


    “Good! I’m d you realize that. You’d better take this month to just focus on practicing your martial arts and strengthening your body. You are not to go anywhere near Ye Sheng for the time being,” said Hu Mei fiercely.


    Ye Qing hung his head and said, “All right then, I’ll tolerate him for one more month.”


    Hu Mei was finally assured when she saw that Ye Qing was taking this seriously. A cold glint shed in her eyes as she said, “Once your Eldest Sister returns to the pce, I’ll make sure that Ye Sheng dies.”

    The next day, Ye Sheng only woke up and got out of bed at noon because he had pretended to be unconscious the night before. He walked out and saw that the nanny was tidying up his courtyard.


    “Why are you still here?” asked Ye Sheng curiously.


    Normally, this nanny was only in charge of bringing meals to Ye Sheng. Once Ye Sheng was finished eating, she would clear away everything and leave without staying a moment longer. Besides, Ye Sheng’s ce was very small, and there was nothing much to clean up anyway.


    “Young Master Twelve, I’m helping to tidy up your courtyard. Have you recovered from your injuries?” asked the nanny in an ingratiating manner.


    Ye Sheng looked strangely at her, then put a hand over his chest as he replied, “I’m feeling all right, just a little weak. Is there anything to eat?”


    “I will get you food right now.” The nanny immediately ran out and soon came back with a pile of delicacies.


    There was beef, mutton, fish, and even donkey meat. All this came from the main kitchen, so it wasn’t just delicious, but was also beautifully ted. Once everything had been ced on the table in Ye Sheng’s courtyard, the fragrance of the food filled the air and didn’t quite match his rather simple and sad-looking courtyard.


    The food on this table was normally served in the main dining hall for people like Lord Ye to consume, but these dishes had been brought to Ye Sheng. This made Ye Sheng frown with concern.


    “What’s happened today? What’s the meaning of all this?” Ye Sheng immediately asked without taking any of it to eat.


    This spread was even better than the food he had been served when he was injured thest time, so it made Ye Sheng extremely nervous inside.

    This nanny came from the countryside and was used to calling the eldest daughter of the house Eldest Miss. But in Ye Manor, she should have referred to her as Consort Ye, because that was her title.


    Eldest Sister was now a consort to the emperor of Great Qin and was his favorite right now. Since she wasing to the house, even the Old Lady and First Madam had to personally go out to greet and bow to her, because that was how someone of her status had to be treated.

    Ye Sheng looked at the quality dishes on the table and scoffed in disdain. Hu Mei was really good at this. After finding out that Eldest Sister wasing back, she’d quickly tried to use good food to shut him up.


    She wasn’t afraid that Ye Sheng wouldin about her, but at least after he had taken good food from her, their future meetings wouldn’t be too awkward.
